NAVO AI-strategie 2021: lead by example / responsible use
De NAVO AI-strategie (okt 2021) stelt als eerste doel een fundament te bieden zodat NAVO en bondgenoten met voorbeeldgedrag de ontwikkeling en het gebruik van AI op een verantwoorde manier voor defensie- en veiligheidsdoelen aanmoedigen — de Alliance als norm-setter.

PRU Governability: human-machine + deactivation
Onder de zes PRUs eist Governability dat AI-toepassingen volgens hun beoogde functie worden ontwikkeld en gebruikt, met passende human-machine interaction, detectie van onbedoelde gevolgen, en stappen zoals disengagement of deactivatie bij onbedoeld gedrag — het risk/ethics-frame voor Allies.
«AI applications will be developed and used according to their intended functions and will allow for: appropriate human-machine interaction; the ability to detect and avoid unintended consequences; and the ability to take steps, such as disengagement or deactivation of systems, when such systems demonstrate unintended behaviour.»

DARB: forum + focal point om PRUs te operationaliseren
Het Data and Artificial Intelligence Review Board (DARB — officiële NAVO-afkorting) is het forum voor Allies en het focal point voor NAVO's governance van verantwoordelijke AI-ontwikkeling en -gebruik, door PRUs te helpen operationaliseren.

Washington Summit §33: revised AI Strategy + responsible use
In de Washington Summit Declaration (10 juli 2024) beloven staatshoofden/regeringsleiders de herziene Artificial Intelligence Strategy te implementeren en principles of responsible use verder te bevorderen — de summit AI-norm line (geen algemene geopolitiek).
